How a transfer works

7 screens · 1 min · First money

Understand a transfer from the inside: address, network, ETH fee and why there's no undo. Without sending anything.

The address says who gets it

It starts with 0x and has 42 characters. Copy and paste it, never type it. Before sending, check the start and the end.

The same network on both sides

Your address is the same on Base, Ethereum and Arbitrum. The balance isn't: the money only shows up on the network it was sent on.

The fee is paid in ETH

Receiving costs you nothing. The sender pays a network fee in ETH, even when sending USDC. On Base, it's usually cents.

Once confirmed, there's no undo

No refund and no support team can reverse it. That's why, to a new address, you send a small amount first and see if it arrives.

The look-alike address scam

Scammers make an address show up in your history with the same start and end as your contact's. Tap to compare the middle.

Always copy from the source, never from your history.

When you need to send

No need to do it now. Keep this checklist.

  • Copy the address from the source, never from your history
  • Use the same network as the receiver
  • Keep a few cents of ETH for the fee
  • Send US$ 1 first and see if it arrives
  • When in doubt, check on Basescan
